NEW INFORMATION TO BE AWARE OF:
BEGINNING FALL 2010 – WOMEN’S TEAMS MUST COMPLY WITH
ADJOINING STATE RULE
– In April 2010, legislation was adopted that would require women’s
teams participating in an NCAA-certified event to meet the same
residency restrictions that have applied to the men’s teams since
2005. The effective date of the legislation is September 1, 2010.
In that regard, fall 2010 events will be required to apply the
legislation when allowing teams to participate in those events.
This means that all teams participating in NCAA-certified fall
events must be made up of individuals that reside either within the
same state as the team’s official address or within a geographically
adjoining state AND with not more than three prospects from
adjoining states participating on any one team. This restriction
does not apply to individual events or college leagues, but any
activity that is NCAA-certified so that NCAA Division I coaches can
attend and observe prospective student-athletes that involves
nonscholastic/travel teams will need to enforce the residency
restrictions for all participating teams.

official memorandum on the subject can be accessed with the

MSNM is now in it's 12th year of
producing national NCAA Certified girls' basketball tournaments.
Our events are primarily on the West Coast in both Seattle and San
Diego. In our events, current-year graduates may also play
provided that they have not committed in anyway to any NCAA
institution prior to playing in our events. The current-year
grads must also play ONLY in the Elite Division.
Our events have two divisions, All-Star
(typically for less experienced teams and smaller high school teams
and the Elite Division which is reserved for the highest level
teams. The Elite and the All-Star divisions play in the same
gyms at the same times. All games feature 2 16-minute
stop-clock halves with NO running clock at all...6 personal fouls
per player...score keeping and clock operators furnished or all
teams for each game....five games minimum guaranteed (July events)/4
games guaranteed or Spring and Fall Tournaments.
These events are
EXTREMELY well attended by college and university coaches from all
the major conferences and scores of smaller institutions. Each year dozens of girls' get their scholarships and chances to play at the
next level from playing in our events. You WILL
be seen! Team coaches, as well as players and their parents, need to take
serious responsibility in marketing their student-athlete prior to
any tournament play.
